Employers in the United Kingdom first must apply for a Sponsor Licence from UK Visas and Immigration in order to hire skilled employees. Before workers may apply to come to or stay in the UK for employment. They must have a job offer from an employer who has submitted a valid Sponsor License application.

What are the most important criteria for obtaining a Sponsor Licence?

To get a Sponsor Licence, you must prove to UK Visas and Immigration that:

  • Your organization is a legitimate business functioning legally in the UK;
  • You are truthful, trustworthy, and dependable;
  • You are capable of fulfilling your sponsor responsibilities and demonstrating your compliance in a timely and suitable way;
  • You have the ability to provide actual work with acceptable skill levels.

What is the duration of my sponsor license?

The validity period is four years, and there is a chance to renew it at the end of that year. Your license may be suspended or canceled. If the Home Office has cause to suspect you did not fulfill your sponsorship obligations.

How long does it take to process sponsor license applications?

An application takes an average of 8 weeks to complete. During the processing period, the Home Workplace may visit your office to check that you are fulfilling your sponsorship obligations. If you fail to establish that all sponsorship obligations were met during the visit. Your application may be denied. Before submitting your application.
